Palwal/Haryana: Fresh allegations of cow vigilante violence have emerged from Haryana after disturbing videos circulating on social media showed two Muslim youths being assaulted, humiliated and forced to drink cow urine by members of a self-styled group called “Team Sonu Hindu Palwal”, according to a report by Clarion India. The incident has intensified concerns over attacks targeting Muslims in the name of cow protection across several northern Indian states.

According to reports, the two youths were intercepted by members of the vigilante group on suspicion of cattle smuggling. The accused forced the victims into a vehicle before physically assaulting them. Videos widely shared online reportedly show the youths being beaten, abused and publicly humiliated while the attackers recorded the incident on mobile phones.

One clip shows the victims being forced to lick shoes. Another video reportedly captures one of the accused pouring a liquid into the mouths of the victims, with claims that it was cow urine. The videos also contain communal abuse and chants of “Jai Shri Ram” during the assault. In one of the clips, an accused person is heard mocking the victims before forcing them to consume the liquid.

The incident has triggered anger among minority organisations and civil rights activists, who described the assault as an organised act of intimidation aimed at spreading fear among Muslims. Activists also raised alarm over the public circulation of the videos, arguing that the attackers appeared confident enough to openly record and upload the abuse without fear of legal consequences.

The case has once again drawn attention to violence linked to self-styled cow protection groups, with Muslims, cattle traders and transport workers repeatedly reporting harassment and mob attacks in different states. Opposition leaders and rights campaigners have questioned why private vigilante groups continue to take the law into their own hands.

So far, there has been no detailed official statement regarding arrests or police action. Authorities have also not publicly confirmed the authenticity of all the viral videos or clarified whether serious criminal charges, including kidnapping, assault and hate crime provisions, will be invoked.
