New Delhi: A Lucknow University assistant professor has been arrested after an audio clip allegedly revealed him attempting to sexually exploit a female student by offering her a leaked examination question paper. The accused, identified as Paramjeet Singh from the university’s Zoology Department, was taken into custody after the conversation surfaced and triggered outrage inside the campus.

According to the complaint, the professor allegedly pressured a final-year BSc student to visit his house before the examination, claiming he had arranged leaked question papers for her. The audio conversation allegedly contains repeated attempts by the professor to lure the student by promising access to the papers in exchange for meeting him privately. The student reportedly refused the offer, telling him she had already studied the syllabus and did not require leaked material.

The student further alleged that the professor repeatedly contacted her while she was on leave and continuously pressured her to come to the college and meet him. Disturbed by the alleged harassment and mental pressure, the student informed university authorities about the incident.

Following this, the university’s examination controller lodged an official police complaint and submitted the audio recording to investigators. An FIR was subsequently registered against the professor at Hasanganj police station, and police have begun questioning him in custody.

The controversy has also triggered action within the university administration. The Vice-Chancellor directed the Internal Complaints Committee to investigate the allegations and submit a report within 24 hours.

Paramjeet Singh has denied all allegations, claiming he was being deliberately trapped in a false case due to internal university politics. Meanwhile, student organisations have intensified protests demanding his immediate dismissal after the audio clip became public.
