Hyderabad: An eight-year-old schoolgirl in Andhra Pradesh's Nandyala district was allegedly gangraped by her three seniors, who also claimed that they murdered her, police said.

The accused aged 12 and 13 told the police that they disposed her body in an irrigation canal; however the body has not been recovered yet.

The incident took place in Muchumarri over 300 km from Andhra capital Amaravati after the girl was reported to be missing from Sunday.

The Class 3 student’s father filed a missing complaint at the local police station.

He told the police that the girl, who had been playing at Muchumarri Park, could not be traced.

Eventually a sniffer dog led the police to the three boys of the same school where the girl studied.

Two of the boys were in class 6, while the other in class 7, who is 13 years old.

During questioning, the boys reportedly admitted to raping and murdering the girl.

The boys told the police that they had seen the girl playing at the park and joined her.

Afterwards they led her to a secluded place near the Muchumarri dam and took turns to rape her.

Worried that the girl might report them to her parents, the boys murdered her and dumped her body in the canal.
