Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel dies from Covid complications

Gurugram: Veteran Congress leader Ahmed Patel died in the wee hours of Wednesday at a hospital here . He was 71.
In a tweet his son Faisal confirmed that the Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat died at 3.30 am.
The Congress leader had been undergoing treatment after testing positive for covid 19 and he died from multi-organ failure resulting from its complications.
"With profound grief & sorrow, I regret to announce the sad & untimely demise of my father, Mr. Ahmed Patel at 25/11/2020, 03:30 AM. After testing positive for Covid-19 around a month back, his health worsened further due to multiple organ failures. May Allah grant him Jannatul firdaus, inshallah," Faisal tweeted.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi condoled the demise of one of the stalwarts of Congress saying he was a pillar of the party.
Rahul also said the departed leader stood with the party through its most difficult times.
"He was a friend who stood by us all, steadfast, loyal, and dependable to the end," wrote Priyanka Gandhi.
Patel was also the Treasurer of the Indian National Congress.
