Seeks Kashmir’s freedom from India, Centre bans MLJK-MA under UAPA
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The Central government has declared the Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam faction), known as MLJK-MA, as an 'unlawful' organization. The decision, based on the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), comes as a response to the group's alleged involvement in supporting terrorist activities in the region.
Led by Masarat Alam Bhat, the MLJK-MA has long been accused of promoting anti-India and pro-Pakistan propaganda. The official notification cites the organization's objectives, which include seeking the freedom of Jammu and Kashmir from India, advocating for its merger with Pakistan, and the establishment of an Islamic State in the region.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, addressing the media, emphasized the government's commitment to national unity and integrity. He stated that the MLJK-MA and its members have been actively engaged in anti-national and secessionist activities in Jammu and Kashmir, supporting terrorism and inciting people to establish Islamic rule in the region.
"The PM Narendra Modi government's message is loud and clear that anyone acting against the unity, sovereignty, and integrity of our nation will not be spared and face the full wrath of the law," Shah declared.
