New Delhi: An American officer processing US visa applications told an Indian man to ‘see your country first’ rejecting his application, The Indian Express reported citing a YouTube video.

The story of this visa rejection was revealed in an exchange between an American YouTuber and an Indian man.

This comes amid stories of growing number of US tourist visa rejections that Indians share on social media.

The man here recounted how his friend’s US visa application was rejected when he revealed he had never travelled outside Delhi.

The US visa officer told the applicant to see his own country first before traveling to the US.

However, the speaker in the video claimed that he had visited 29 Indian states, pointing out that travel history plays a role in these visa interviews.

Instagram vlogger Jay’s post titled ‘Told to See His Own Country First’ has gone viral on social media triggering debates.

Many responded to the video with one person saying ‘I agree with restricting immigration to those who show they have the skills required to fill the void. I don’t agree with the (see your country before you see mine) ideal’.

Another countered the user’s comment saying: ‘Well I think officer is right, how come that u can go other countries if ur own country u didn’t visit a famous place in ur own country?’

However, many others said that India got lot of things from Uttarakhand and Himachal to Kerala, Ladakh, Jaipur and Jaisalmer to offer to travellers.

One commenter joked: ‘Bro just directed revenue to Indian tourism… Appreciate the officer’s effort to make India great again.’
