Srinagar: In an encounter in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were killed while two army personnel got injured on Thursday, PTI reported, citing the police's account.

Police said that a cordon and search operation was initiated after intel was received about the presence of terrorists in Naina Batpora village of south Kashmir's Pulwama.

"During the search operation as the presence of terrorist holed-up in a separate structure nearby a local Mosque got ascertained, they were given ample opportunities to surrender and repeated appeals were made to them," a spokesperson for the police said. The injured army personnel were moved to hospital with splinter wounds, and their conditions are reported stable. The dead terrorists' bodies were recovered from the spot and were identified as Shahid Ahmed Khan, resident of Batpora, Pulwama, and Fayaz Sheikh, resident of Shahpora, Ganderbal, the spokesperson said.

He added that the dead were categorised terrorists as per police records and were wanted by law in many terror crimes. The police have registered a case, he said
