Sachin Tendulkar on Wednesday tweeted that "India should decide for India and that foreigners should not participate in the country's internal matters", in support of the government, following the tweets of international celebrities like Rihanna and Greta Thunberg in support of the farmers' protest.

"India's sovereignty cannot be compromised. External forces can be spectators but not participants. Indians know India and should decide for India. Let's remain united as a nation," tweeted Sachin Tendulkar with the hashtags #IndiaTogether and #IndiaAgainstPropaganda.

A day after the tweet was posted, users started to take digs on Sachin. A hashtag under #ShameOnYouSachin was started, prompting thousands of users posting tweets under the thread. The cricket legend was called 'names' for his stance towards the farm laws.

A user called him a 'Sanghi'.

Whereas another user ridiculed him as a 'dog of Ambani'.

Former MTV Roadies host Raghu Ram tweeted and said: "In the Indian farmers vs Indian govt match, Sachin Tendulkar is batting for the govt."

Several other Bollywood celebrities, cricketers, and sportspersons had also tweeted using hashtags #IndiaTogether and #IndiaAgainstPropaganda to show their support to the government and propagate the message of peace.
