Rohini Acharya Yadav, daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, has officially entered the political fray by submitting her nomination from the Saran Lok Sabha constituency in Bihar.

Representing the INDIA alliance, she will be contesting against BJP's Rajiv Pratap Rudy.

Born in June 1979, Rohini Yadav is the fourth child of Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi, belonging to one of the most influential political families in the country. Both her parents have previously served as chief ministers of Bihar.

In 2002, she married software engineer Rao Sumaresh Singh, and the couple has three children – two sons and a daughter.

Despite her illustrious family background, Rohini Yadav pursued a career in medicine and practiced as a doctor. Following her marriage, she relocated abroad, distancing herself from active involvement in politics.

Rohini Yadav garnered widespread attention in 2022 when she donated one of her kidneys to her father, Lalu Yadav, at a hospital in Singapore. Her noble act received praise from various political figures, including rivals like BJP's Giriraj Singh and Nishikant Dubey.

While maintaining a low profile in politics, Rohini Yadav occasionally expressed her views on social media regarding political developments. Her remark "garbage returns to the dustbin" during Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's alliance shift sparked controversy, although the RJD defended her stating that she did not directly name anyone in her statements.

With her electoral debut from Saran, Rohini Yadav becomes the fourth child of Lalu Yadav to formally enter politics. Her brother Tejashwi Yadav currently serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, while another brother Tej Pratap Yadav is an MLA. Additionally, her elder sister Misa Bharti holds a position as a Rajya Sabha member.
