Right-wing group demands cancellation of India-Bangladesh cricket match

Bengaluru: A Goa-based right-wing outfit asked the cricket regulatory body, BCCI, to cancel the upcoming cricket match between India and Bangladesh, citing atrocities against Hindus in the neighbouring country.
Hindu Janajagruti Samithi sought to cancel the match, taking place on Thursday in Chennai on Thursday, ‘until these attacks on Hindus are halted’.
The group in a statement condemned cricket match between India and Bangladesh terming it a disgraceful act, adding that the match ‘deepens the wounds of Hindus while atrocities against them in Bangladesh persist.’
Hindu Janajagruti Samithi demanded to cancel all India-Bangladesh cricket matches alongside cultural programs featuring Bangladeshi artists until the issues are resolved.
It is reported that following Sheikh Hasina’s resignation as prime minister on August 5, widespread attack on religious minorities especially Hindus and their residences, temples and businesses have been reported in in the country.
India is scheduled to host two Test matches and three T20Is against Bangladesh from September 19 to October 12 in Chennai, Kanpur, Gwalior, Delhi, and Hyderabad, India Today reported.
