Patna: A female doctor in Bihar has been charged with the relevant sections of attempt to murder for chopping off her boyfriend’s genitals.

Police arrested the woman after the incident was reported from Bihar's Saran district, NDTV reported.

The victim, who is a councillor of Ward No. 12 in Madhaura block, is being treated at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).

The accused claimed that the man with whom she had an affair for the past five years refused to marry her.

Eventually when she coaxed him into a register marriage in court, he did not turn up leaving her wait vainly.

Following which she called the man to her house and allegedly chopped off his genitals.

Hearing the councillor’s cry, neighhours alerted police and they found him lying on a bed in a pool of blood.

The SHO of Madhaura police station in Saran district was quoted as saying: "The woman is a 25-year-old unmarried doctor from Hajipur. She was doing practice in Madhaura. The victim is also unmarried."

The officer added that the accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
