Rather google & visit places, not on Kejriwal's invite: Himanta Sarma
text_fieldsGuwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma repeated his defamation threat at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday, while the latter visited Assam on the day, NDTV reported.
In a tone of bitterness, Sarma added that he would visit Delhi and have sightseeing but not on Kejriwal's invite to show him around. Rather, he will visit places he could "google".
This was after Kejriwal invited him for tea on the last day. Pointing out that issuing open threats is unbecoming of a chief minister, Kejriwal invited Sarma to Delhi for tea and said that he would take him around the national capital city. He had said that Sarma must learn Assam's culture of hospitality.
Sarma further reacted to Kejriwal's invitation that they treat their guests as gods. "...but when Aurangzeb came to Assam, Lachit Barphukan did not treat him as a guest? Now when Kejriwal has come here to lie, why should we consider you guests.?" He said.
"Still, I provided you with security, which you don't do. I tweeted several times during Covid, but you did not reply. Please leave us alone. We don't need to be aam aadmi, we will remain khaas aadmi," NDTV quoted Sarma.
After winning in Delhi and Punjab, Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party made clear inroads into Goa and Gujarat. For AAP, Assam seems next on the list. Kejriwal has offered free electricity and jobs for our unemployed if AAP comes to power there.
Further, the election is due in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh this year.
Sarma wasn't hesitant when he issued his spiteful statement that if Kejriwal made statements that there are corruption cases against the Assam CM, he would sue the Delhi CM, just like he did with Manish Sisodia.
A defamation case disqualified Rahul Gandhi from being a Lok Sabha member, while Kejriwal faced multiple defamation cases.
Last day, Sarma called Kejriwal a "coward hiding behind the veil of immunity in Delhi assembly and uttering white lies", NDTV quoted.
