Jaipur: A school teacher in Rajasthan, who posted a message on social media celebrating Pakistan's victory in a T20 World Cup match, was arrested and granted bail the same day by a local court.

Nafeesa Attari, the school teacher, was arrested by Udaipur's Ambamata Police and was produced before a court. The court then sent the teacher to jail.

However, the court later granted bail to Nafisa Attari on a surety bond of Rs 20,000 after she pleaded that there was no malicious intent behind the post.

The next hearing, in this case, will be held on November 9.

The teacher has been booked under IPC section 153 (B) (Imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration), said SHO of Amba Mata police station Narpat Singh.

Nafeesa Attari was a teacher at Neerja Modi School in Udaipur. After Pakistan's victory over India on Sunday, Nafeesa Attari shared a status on WhatsApp along with pictures of Pakistani players, mentioning 'We wonnn'.

When one of the parents asked the teacher whether she supported Pakistan, Nafeesa replied in the affirmative with a 'Yes'.

The screenshots of the WhatsApp status went viral, leading to the school taking action against her and expelling her from the job.

Having to justify the update on the private messenger app, she stated, "Our family members were divided into two and supported their teams. This, in any way, does not mean that I am supporting Pakistan," The Indian Express quoted.

Meanwhile, a video of the woman saying, "I love my India like any other citizen" is going viral.
