Ranchi/Mumbai: Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader, charged on Friday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working for billionaires who wish to take tribal people's "jal, jungle, and zameen" (land, water, and forests).

Gandhi also accused Modi of attempting to undermine the Constitution, which he described as the "soul of the country.” “PM Modi says Rahul is flashing a red book. Its content is important, not the colour. Had you read it, you would not have been spreading hatred and dividing society,” Gandhi said in a rally in Godda district.

“It is a fight of ideology between the INDIA bloc and BJP-RSS. We are protecting the Constitution and BJP-RSS is trying to dump it in the trash bin. They are spreading violence and trying to divide society on the basis of caste, creed and religion,” he alleged, the New Indian Express reported.

Gandhi declared that if elected to power, Congress would guarantee a caste census and lift the 50% reservation cap when speaking at another rally in Bermo, Bokaro. He pledged to raise SC, ST and OBC reservations to 28%, 12%, and 27%, respectively.

‘Rs 7,000 per quintal promise for soyabean’

Rahul stated that by setting a price of Rs 7,000 per quintal with a bonus for soyabeans, the MVA will make history for Maharashtra farmers.

According to him, a committee would be established by the MVA to determine the appropriate MSP for cotton and a fair price for onions. Gandhi claimed that although the BJP had promised an MSP of Rs 6,000 for soybeans for the past three elections, farmers are still compelled to sell the hard-grown soybeans for Rs 3,000–4,000.
