Rahul Gandhi leaves for Europe amid key party meet
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Rahul Gandhi has left for Europe skipping Thursday's party meet that will discuss a major agitation starting on October 2.
He is on a personal visit to the continent and will return on Sunday ahead of the Presidential elections and the monsoon session of Parliament, according to NDTV.
Rahul Gandhi's frequent foreign visit has raised questions about his commitment to involving wholly in the party affairs.
His travels often fall on his party's key political moments at a time when the Congress is getting emaciated across India.
This time his travel takes place in the middle of the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' or Unite India Campaign set to start on October 2.
As he was flying to Europe, back in Goa his party is struggling to patch up a split.
At least some lawmakers belonging to the Congress were on the brink of crossing over to the BJP.
While his party wants Rahul Gandhi to be more active alongside assuming the party presidents' post, the young leader appears to be not in a mood to involve in the party.
It is not yet clear whether he will contest for the party's top post.
