Rahul Gandhi donates monthly salary to support Wayanad rehabilitation efforts
text_fieldsRahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, announced on Wednesday that he has donated Rs 2,30,000, equivalent to his entire month's salary, to the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) to aid in relief and rehabilitation efforts in Wayanad.
In a post shared on social media platform X, Gandhi expressed his deep concern for the people of Wayanad, who have faced significant hardships following a devastating landslide. "Our brothers and sisters in Wayanad have endured a devastating tragedy, and they need our support to recover from the unimaginable losses they have faced," he wrote.
Gandhi urged fellow citizens to contribute to the KPCC fund through the INC app, emphasizing that even small donations can make a meaningful impact. "Wayanad is a beautiful part of our country, and together, we can help rebuild the lives of its people who have lost so much," he added.
Last month, after visiting the landslide-affected areas in Wayanad, Gandhi announced that the Congress party would take on the task of building 100 houses for those who lost their homes in the disaster.
On July 30, Kerala was struck by a devastating landslide triggered by relentless heavy rains. The tragedy resulted in the loss of over 300 lives and caused widespread destruction, including the loss of numerous homes and buildings.
