Rahul Gandhi alleges vote manipulation in MP, vows to release evidence soon
text_fieldsPachmarhi/Bhopal: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has intensified his allegations of electoral manipulation, claiming widespread “vote chori” (vote theft) in Madhya Pradesh and other states. Addressing party workers in Pachmarhi on Saturday, Gandhi described the alleged irregularities as an attack on democracy and the Constitution drafted by Dr BR Ambedkar.
“This is an attack on Bharat Mata,” he declared, accusing the ruling BJP of using the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process to conceal voter fraud. Gandhi cited the Haryana model, where he claimed 25 lakh votes were stolen, and said similar patterns were evident in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh. “The main issue is ‘vote chori’. We have evidence and will release it one by one,” he told reporters.
His remarks came during the Congress party’s ‘Sangthan Srijan Abhiyan’, an organisational drive aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation ahead of upcoming elections. Gandhi urged party workers to remain united and vigilant against electoral malpractice.
In a lighter moment during a training session, Gandhi arrived late and was playfully asked to do 10 push-ups as “penal action” by training head Sachin Rao. He complied with good humour, joined by district presidents, turning the moment into a team-building exercise.
Before departing for Bhopal, Gandhi paid floral tributes at Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Gandhi Chowk, engaging warmly with locals and posing for photographs.
His claims have sparked political debate, with the BJP dismissing them as an attempt to deflect attention from Congress’ electoral setbacks. The Election Commission has not yet issued an official response.
