‘Put an end’ to terror attacks in J&K: Farooq Abdullah tells Pakistan

New Delhi: National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah urged Pakistan to ‘put an end’ to terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, NDTV reported.

The veteran leader was responding to the series of terror attacks in the region including one on Thursday night that claimed the lives of four including two soldiers after an Army vehicle in Baramulla was targeted.

The latest attack came three days after six construction workers and a doctor were gunned down.

Farooq Abdullah said that he has witnessed the killing of innocent people in the region for 30 years and asked why Pakistan was doing this, ‘sabotaging their own future... when we will not be a part of Pakistan?’

He added that the Pakistan was mistakenly thinking the attacks in the area would help them unite Kashmir with Pakistan.

Abdullah told a local news channel that Pakistan should focus on their nation and ‘put an end to this and find a way to be friends... otherwise, issues will arise.’

It is reported citing intelligence sources that a terrorist training camp was found to be working next to an Army base in Pakistan's Abbottabad, where former al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden lived.

The BJP earlier took on Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif’s statement that the National Conference and the Congress share similar position on restoration of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

The BJP’s Amit Malviya said that ‘Pakistan, a terrorist state, endorses Congress and NC's position on Kashmir…’

Abdullah's party won 42 of 90 elected seats in the first assembly polls since the former state lost special status in 2019 and bifurcated into two union territories.

Abdullah's son, Omar Abdullah, took oath as Chief Minister last week.
