New Delhi: A video that ran viral showed the lawmaker Baljinder Kaur in Punjab getting roughed up by her husband.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader was attacked in the lawmakers' home as she was engaged in a heated argument with a group of men surrounding her.
The man who slapped Baljinder Kaur turned out to be her husband, which led Punjab State Commission for Women chairperson Manisha Gulati taking note of the attack.
Manisha Gulati reportedly said the commission takes a suo motu notice of the incident, adding that it is upsetting for a woman who raises public issues to be facing harassment at home.
Punjab reported a jump of 17 per cent in crime against women in 2021, according to the latest NCRB findings.
