Punjab AAP leader shot at during dispute with Akali leader, hospitalized
text_fieldsNew Delhi: An Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader in Punjab was injured in a shooting incident in Punjab's Fazilka district on Saturday during an argument with a rival Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader, NDTV reported.
Local AAP leader Mandeep Singh Brar was taken to the district medical centre in Ludhiana after he was hit by bullet outside the office of the block development and panchayat officer (BDPO).
Jalalabad AAP MLA Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy alleged that Akali leader Vardev Singh Mann fired the bullet.
It is reported that dispute began after Vardev Singh Noni Mann, the son of former MP Zora Singh Mann, arrived at the BDPO office in order to clear a file related to school
AAP workers were also present at the time as the tension escalated after Mann’s request was refused, according to reports.
The confrontation between Mann and Brar eventually led to the firing of a weapon.
Neel Garg, senior spokesperson for AAP in Punjab, said that violence has no place in democracy, adding that AAP believes in ‘peace, development and fairness for all’.
