Probe sought into CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke’s father’s finances, Kapil Sibal’s Rs 1 crore fund

Surat: An RTI activist has sought inquiries into the financial sources of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke’s father and into a Rs 1 crore legal defence fund announced by senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal for the party, according to a complaint filed with the Election Commission, the Maharashtra government and the tax department.
The complaint, filed by activist Amit Tiwari, questions how Bhagwanrao Dipke, a retired junior engineer from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), managed to educate his son at Boston University in the United States on a monthly salary of around Rs 60,000-65,000.
Tiwari has also asked authorities to examine whether CJP is a registered organisation under Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, and whether it can collect funds in the name of a political party if it is unregistered.
He has further sought a probe into whether 18% GST would apply to the Rs 1 crore contribution announced by Sibal for a fund meant to provide legal aid to protesters arrested by the Delhi Police in connection with the NEET paper leak protest.
