Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s assertion, in which he labelled Palestinians as barbarians to justify his war on Gaza, during his address at the US Congress where he received a standing ovation.

Terming the Israeli attack on Gaza as genocidal and unacceptable, she coined the term ‘barbaric’ for Netanyahu, who used the word against the Palestinians while defending his actions as “a clash between barbarism and civilization”, in his brutality in Gaza.

“He is absolutely correct, except that it is he and his government that are barbaric and their barbarism is being given the unstinted support of most of the Western world. It is truly a shame to watch,” Priyanka said.

Calling for global condemnation of Israel’s actions, Priyanka stated that it is “no longer enough to speak up for the civilians, mothers, fathers, doctors, nurses, aid workers, journalists, teachers, writers, poets, senior citizens, and the thousands of innocent children who are being wiped out day after day by the horrific genocide taking place in Gaza.”

Priyanka urged all governments and individuals who oppose hatred and violence to take a stand against the Israeli government’s actions.

“It is the moral responsibility of every right-thinking individual including all those Israeli citizens who do not believe in hatred and violence, and every government in the world to condemn the Israeli government’s genocidal actions and force them to stop,” she added.

Her remarks come in response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent address to the US Congress, which received a standing ovation. Priyanka criticized this reception, stating, “Their actions are unacceptable in a world that professes civility and morality. Instead, we are subjected to the image of the Israeli Prime Minister being given a standing ovation in the US Congress.”

This is not the first time Gandhi has criticized the international community's stance on the Gaza conflict. In February, she expressed frustration over what she described as a global disregard for justice and humanity, stating, “All rules of justice, humanity and international decorum have been broken. Humanity has been bled, and each one of us will pay an unimaginable price for this someday unless we raise our voices and stand up for what is right today.”
