Presidential polls: Murmu leads with 540 votes against 208 votes of Sinha
text_fieldsNEW DELHI: NDA's presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu has a lead of 540 votes out of 748 MPs' votes while opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha got 208 votes, according to Returning Officer PC Mody.
Officials stated that the votes of 15 MPs were declared invalid, he said. As each MP's vote is worth 700 in this presidential election, Murmu got a total of 5,23,600 votes, which is 72.19 per cent of the total valid MP votes, indicating some cross-voting in her favour.
On the other hand, Sinha's total vote value is 1,45,600 which is 27.81 per cent of the total valid votes.
Officials informed that the second round of vote counting for MLAs has started.
Meanwhile, in anticipation of Murmu's victory, her hometown in Odisha's Rairangpur has already begun celebrations.
