Police nab a person in connection with Moosewala murder
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The Uttarakhand Police and the Punjab Police have nabbed a man in Dehradun in connection with the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala. The two police departments joined hands in a raid to detain the person, IANS reported.
According to a source, the Punjab police are in Dehradun at present. "A joint team of Uttarakhand STF and Punjab police has held one person for interrogation. The arrest in the case is likely," the source added.
The 29-year-old singer was shot dead in rapid gunfire less than 24 hours after security provided for him was rolled back by the government. It was reported that around 30 rounds were fired at him in broad daylight during the assault on him, which took place at his ancestral village in Punjab's Mansa on Sunday. He was driving a Mahindra Thar SUV, travelling with his friends, and ten to twelve attackers arrived and fired at him and his friends. The latter sustained grievous injuries, IANS reports.
Meanwhile, a Canada based gangster, Goldy Brar, and Lawrence Bishnoi took responsibility for the singer's murder. As the killing incited a huge political controversy, the new Punjab government is at the receiving end, while the Punjab police are working on the case with all their might.
