New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a significant project aimed at revamping 508 railway stations across the country, with a total estimated cost of Rs 24,470 crore.

The ambitious redevelopment plan seeks to transform these stations with modern passenger amenities and improved traffic circulation, emphasising inter-modal integration. The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme will inspire the designs of the stations to reflect local culture and heritage.

The 508 railway stations to be renovated are distributed across 27 states and union territories. Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan top the list with 55 stations undergoing redevelopment, followed by 49 stations in Bihar, 44 in Maharashtra, and 37 in West Bengal. Madhya Pradesh, Assam, and Odisha also feature prominently in the scheme, with 34, 32, and 25 stations, respectively. Moreover, Punjab, Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Haryana, and Karnataka will witness substantial improvements in their railway infrastructure.

During the launch of this grand initiative, PM Modi seized the opportunity to criticize the opposition parties, claiming it is time for "corruption, dynasty, and appeasement to quit India." Drawing inspiration from the Quit India Movement, the Prime Minister asserted that the entire country is calling for an end to these practices. He accused a section of the opposition of engaging in "negative politics" and obstructing progress by refusing to work constructively.

Addressing the virtual event after laying the foundation for the railway station redevelopment drive, PM Modi highlighted the need for a transformation in India's political landscape. He urged for a collective effort to steer the nation toward prosperity, leaving behind corruption and dynastic politics.
