PM Modi talks with Netanyahu, reaffirms zero-tolerance on terror
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which the two leaders exchanged views on the situation in West Asia and reiterated their shared commitment to combating terrorism.
According to a press note from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the leaders discussed ways to strengthen the India-Israel Strategic Partnership and reaffirmed their zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism in all its forms.
“PM Modi reaffirms India’s support for efforts towards a just and durable peace in the region,” the statement said. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the continued momentum in bilateral ties and reaffirmed their commitment to further deepen the partnership for mutual benefit.
The PMO statement added, “The two leaders strongly condemned terrorism and reiterated their zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. They also exchanged views on the situation in West Asia, including early implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan.”
The two leaders agreed to remain in touch to maintain dialogue and coordination on regional and bilateral issues.
PM Netanyahu’s planned visit to India, originally scheduled later this year, has been postponed again due to security concerns following the deadly terror attack in New Delhi on November 10. This marks the third time Netanyahu has delayed a visit to India in 2025. Earlier cancellations were due to scheduling conflicts arising from repeat Israeli elections in April and September.
The last visit by PM Netanyahu to India was in January 2018, while PM Modi travelled to Tel Aviv in 2017, becoming the first Indian prime minister to visit Israel.
This conversation highlights the ongoing diplomatic engagement between India and Israel, with both leaders emphasising strong counter-terrorism cooperation and the pursuit of regional peace.
