New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep concerns over the rising civilian deaths caused by the Israeli forces raid in Gaza while highlighting his country’s humanitarian aid to Gaza during the second Voice of Global South Summit (VOGSS).

India hosted the second VOGSS summit, themed 'Together, for Everyone's Growth, with Everyone's Trust,' which emphasized the need for unity and collaboration among the Global South countries.

PM Modi, who led the Summit, also condemned the Hamas attacks on October 7, advocating for restraint, dialogue, and diplomacy to resolve the situation.

The summit saw the inauguration of a global centre for excellence named DAKSHIN, aimed at fostering collaboration among Global South nations. PM Modi outlined the principles of the Global South's voice on the global stage, emphasizing the 5 'Cs': consultation, cooperation, communication, creativity, and capacity building.

India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that the summit builds on the success of the inaugural VOGSS held virtually in January 2023, which brought together 125 countries from the Global South to discuss common perspectives and priorities.

Structured into 10 sessions, the summit covered a range of topics including foreign policy, education, finance, environment, energy, health, and commerce. The head of state/government level sessions, inaugurated and concluded by PM Modi, focused on mutual growth and a collective future for the Global South.

Throughout its G20 presidency, India has worked to ensure that the concerns of the Global South are acknowledged and prioritized in finding solutions to global challenges. The summit aimed to share key outcomes achieved during various G20 meetings and provide a platform for discussing sustainable solutions and maintaining momentum towards a more inclusive and representative world order.

The MEA highlighted the importance of the summit in addressing challenges posed by global developments and sustaining the momentum towards a progressive world order.
