Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the leaders of the Patidar community should invest in local infrastructure, food, and agribusiness. He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the global Patidar Business Summit 2022.

He added that the Patidar community cannot be self-reliant by only investing in the diamond business, land deals, and developing industries in bigger cities. "I want you to adopt small towns and explore food and agriculture businesses".

Recalling former Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's words, he said India just needs to use its wealth wisely. "If we start a work with a resolve, the result is certain". He added that Sardar's words should not be forgotten and that "we have to strengthen confidence and our spirit of Aatmanirbharta".

PM Modi added that the government is constantly trying to enhance the spirit of entrepreneurship through its policies and actions. The goal is to create an environment in which even the youth of ordinary families can become entrepreneurs.

He noted schemes like Mudra Yojna and Start Up India are designed to help people get into business and realise innovations. The Summit should be used to explore ways of modernising agriculture and bringing investment into the field. Giving the example of the dairy movement in Gujarat, he noted that it changed the economic landscape of the farming industry.

The PM asked the Patidar community to create groups of experienced and young members to work on issues of national interest and document ideas. "Subjects like fintech, skill development, and financial inclusion can be taken for suggesting intervention in government and academics".

Emphasising the possibilities in the food processing industry and organic farming, he reiterated that we need to promote agro-based businesses. He also spoke of using spare fields for solar panels. The possibility of amrit sarovars emerging as tourist spots was also discussed. He asked people to contribute to the Amrit Sarovar Abhiyan and develop 75 amrit sarovars in each district.
