Patna: A SpiceJet aircraft had to make an emergency landing at Bihta Airforce Station here after one of its wings caught fire.

All 185 passengers on the Boeing 727 flight are safe, according to India Today.

The Patna District Magistrate, Chandrashekhar Singh reportedly said that flames had been seen on the aircraft's left wing.

The people of the Phulwari Sharif, according to him, immediately alerted the airport authorities about the fire.

The reason for fire is believed to be technical issue which the engineering team, according to him, is investigating.

However, one passenger reported noticing issues with the flight right from the start of the journey from Patna at 12.30.

Another passenger found lights inside flickering during the journey and reportedly blamed the negligence by SpiceJet.

The flight landed at Bihta Airforce station 25 minutes after the taking off.

Police and airforce personnel evacuated all passengers and meanwhile, Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi called the incident as "playing with the lives of passengers".
