New Delhi: The Union health ministry announced on Sunday that a man who just got back from a nation where the Mpox is being spread has been identified as a possible case of the illness.

According to the statement, the patient has been placed in isolation at a designated hospital and is doing well at the moment. There is no reason for concern.

In order to verify whether the patient has the mpox, samples have been taken and are being tested, according to the health ministry, the New Indian Express reported.

"The case is being managed in line with established protocols, and contact tracing is ongoing to identify potential sources and assess the impact within the country," the ministry said.

The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) stated that there is no need for undue alarm as the case's development is consistent with its previous risk assessment.

The ministry also stated that the nation has robust protocols in place to control and minimise any potential danger and is adequately equipped to handle such isolated travel-related instances.
