Jharkhand: In Jharkhand, a train to Mumbai derailed early on Tuesday, killing two people and injuring 20 others. Around 18 coaches of Howara-CSMT Express derailed near Badabamboo, around 80 km from Jamshedpur, at around 3.45 am, NDTV reported.

Officials informed that rescue teams were dispatched to the accident spot immediately after the distress alert arrived. Now, rescue and relief operations are going on.

Meanwhile, a goods train also derailed nearby, but it is not clear whether the derailment happened concurrently, according to a senior railway official.

In the case of the Howrah-CSMT, 16 out of 18 coaches derailed were passenger ones, while the remaining were a power car and a pantry car.

Officials informed us that the injured were given first aid by the Railways' medical team. They were taken to Chakradharpur for better treatment, NDTV reports.

They further said that the exact reason for the derailment is yet to be ascertained. For the stranded passengers, Indian Railways arranged additional trains and buses. It also issued helpline numbers.

It was only around two weeks ago that eight coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda, killing four people and injuring several others. Police stated that some coaches of the passenger train, which was en route to Dibrugarh, derailed between Motiganj and Jhilahi railway stations. Train number 15904 was heading to Dibrugarh in Assam from Chandigarh. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge accused the Modi government of "jeopardizing rail safety" in the wake of the accident.
