In a striking turn of events, Pashupati Paras, the uncle of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Chirag Paswan, has been evicted from the white building near Patna airport, which served as both his residence and the party office.

This building was registered as the LJP office by Ram Vilas Paswan, the late father of Chirag and brother of Paras. Despite its official use as a party base, it had also been Paras' family home for nearly 40 years.

The Bihar government’s building construction department issued a notice to Paras, urging him to vacate by November 13. However, the office was cleared out before the deadline, forcing Paras to relocate to a house in the MLA Colony. In an attempt to hold on to the property, Paras sought intervention from senior BJP leaders in Delhi, but it was Chirag Paswan’s insistence that ultimately prevailed.

The eviction marks a reversal of fortunes in the family dispute that has simmered since Paras split the LJP, reportedly contributing to Chirag's own eviction in March 2022 from a bungalow on Delhi's Janpath Road. That home, which held sentimental value for the Paswan family, was once occupied by Ram Vilas Paswan. Chirag described the painful experience, recalling how family photos and belongings were tossed onto the street during the eviction.

After the split in LJP and the recent fallout between Paras’ faction and the BJP, Chirag has been firm in his stance, unwilling to support his uncle’s attempts to retain the Patna property. The office had initially been allotted to Paras during his tenure as an MLA, but it was eventually transferred to the LJP’s name after he lost a subsequent election. The office also held special meaning for Ram Vilas Paswan, who would often visit it on his trips to Bihar.
