Bengaluru: The Karnataka Police arrested three people for allegedly raising 'Pakistan Zindabad slogans outside the Karnataka Assembly, Vidhana Soudha, on February 27. The incident regarding the case happened when Karnataka MLAs were voting for the Rajya Sabha election, and the supporters of the winning candidate of Congress, Nasir Hussain, were cheering him, NDTV reported.

The arrested three were identified as Ilthaz from Delhi, Munavar from Bengaluru, and Mohammed Shafi from Karnataka's Haveri, and they were arrested based on a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report and other evidence to be produced in court.

Karnataka Police released a statement on the arrests and it read, "During the Rajya Sabha election held at Vidhana Soudha on February 27, a case was registered regarding the chanting of "Pakistan Zindabad" slogans following the election results. Subsequent to the FSL report, circumstantial evidence, witness statements, and available evidence, three individuals have been arrested. Legal action will be taken against them."

Meanwhile, BJP Karnataka president BY Vijayendra claimed that the arrest was made as a result of his relentless protests in and outside the Vidhana Soudha. He said that he requested Chief Minister Siddaramaiah not to stop the investigation with the three arrests since justice doesn't end there. He wanted to investigate more about the arrested three, their background, whether more people were involved in the alleged crime, who permitted them inside the assembly and who made them shout the alleged slogans.

NDTV reported that the house of Mohammed Shafi, one of the arrested, is sinking in silence after the family locked themselves indoors, keeping the lights off. Shafi's sister broke down before journalists and said that her brother was "not like that".
