Raipur: Controversial yoga guru Baba Ramdev has claimed that Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan could one day become part of India again, urging people to remain patient for such a development. He made the remarks while speaking to journalists at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

Ramdev said Hinduism, Islam and Christianity faced no threat in India, but claimed that the country’s pride and dignity were under greater strain. He also alleged that Hindus had suffered atrocities and injustice in Pakistan and Bangladesh.

His remarks came during a discussion on religious conversion and legislation introduced by the Chhattisgarh government to address the issue. Ramdev characterised claims of persecution of Hindus, Christians or Muslims as political rhetoric, while calling for people of every faith to be protected from persecution in the future.

Ramdev also outlined an expansive vision for India, saying the country should become the world’s best democracy, with its citizens regarded among the best globally. He called for India to become the leading economy and said the rupee should eventually attain parity with the US dollar and British pound.

He further claimed India needed a stronger passport that would allow citizens to travel widely without visas. He said India should command equal respect alongside the United States, China and Russia.

He said the government was responsible for ensuring that systems governing religion, education, healthcare, the economy and agriculture remained free of irregularities, describing such accountability as central to democracy.
