New Delhi: Millions of mobile phone and internet users in Pakistan will suffer as the increasing power outages are threatening to disrupt communication services in the nation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warned that the country will face increased power cuts in July

Shehbaz's warning followed a more worrying warning by The Pakistan National Information Technology Board (NITB), which said mobile and internet services in the nation would be shut down.

The NITB took to Twitter to say that Telecom operators in the nation warned about shutting down mobile and internet services as power shortage grips nationwide.

Geo News reported the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as saying that Pakistan failed to procure liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply.

The power outages in Pakistan is server after the nation failed to ink a deal for natural gas supply.

Just as a heatwave is driving power consumption, the country, according to Refinitiv data, struggles to buy LNG for power generation.

Shehbaz Sharif administration cut working hours for public servants as part of rationing the power.

Alongside, the government directed from shopping malls to factories to shut early in cities including Karachi.

Pakistan Finance Minister Miftah Ismail said that the government is trying for LNG supply deal with Qatar for monthly cargoes.
