Oracle cuts 12,000 jobs in India, more layoffs loom: Report

US tech giant Oracle has laid off around 12,000 employees in India—about 40% of its roughly 30,000-strong workforce there—with another round expected within a month, affected staff said Tuesday. Globally, the firm has axed some 30,000 jobs.

Two impacted employees, including one from HR, confirmed the scale: "In India, around 12,000 employees have been laid off. The company is planning another mass layoff within a month."

Oracle declined comment but emailed staff about "organizational changes" rendering positions redundant to "streamline operations."

Severance for those with a year of service includes 15 days' pay, one month of unpaid wages until termination, leave encashment, gratuity (if eligible), one month's notice pay, and a two-month salary top-up—but only for voluntary, amicable resignations.
