Only BJP could bring employment, development: UP minister
text_fieldsRampur (UP): Employment and development, which the people want, could be brought to Uttar Pradesh only by the ruling BJP, state Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna claimed on Saturday. He called the opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) a "fused transformer, saying that the party can neither illuminate a bulb nor run a tubewell, PTI reported.
He added that the BJP is a "functional transformer", running everything, unlike SP. "People want employment and development, and that can only be given by the ruling party," he claimed.
Addressing a press conference in UP's Rampur, Khanna Khanna pitched for BJP candidate Ghanshyam Singh Lodhi for the Lok Sabha byelections, which are scheduled for later this month.
Further, he made supporting comments on the controversial Agnipath military recruitment announced by the Centre. He called for youths not to get "misled by anyone" on the programme as it is for their future.
"It is clear that the government is concerned for the youth. The youth have been told that after working for four years, they will also get a good amount," he said, adding, "On one side, you are getting honorarium, and on the other, you are also getting a chance to serve the country."
