Odisha: 5 school teachers arrested for raping 13-year-old student

Kendrapara: Five teachers from a private school in Kendrapara district were arrested on February 21 for allegedly raping a Class 7 girl over an extended period, police confirmed.

The arrests followed separate complaints at Rajkanika police station from the victim's father and the district child welfare committee. The parents approached the committee after their 13-year-old daughter reported the abuse. Committee member Swagatika Patra said they investigated for 48 hours, lodged a formal complaint on February 18, and urged the district education officer to probe separately.

Rajkanika police station in-charge Sanjay Mallick stated that the girl's statement was recorded per legal protocols, with medical exams conducted for the victim and accused. Preliminary findings led to the arrests; further investigation continues.

Opposition BJD submitted a memorandum to Kendrapara SP, demanding strict punishment for the culprits.
