NSA Ajit Doval tells China’s diplomat ‘trust eroded’: report
text_fieldsNew Delhi: India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval told Chinese diplomat Wang Yi that trust between two nations has eroded because of the situation along the India's de-facto border in the Western Sector of the India-China boundary.
Both the leaders were participating the Friends of BRICS meeting in South Africa's Johannesburg on Monday when they entered in talks, NDTV reported.
Wang Yi , member of Chinese community party’s Political Bureau, is the Director of the Office of the CPC Foreign Affairs Commission.
The official level talks between two nations on the boundary issues had taken place in 2019.
Citing sources, the report said that Doval called for resolving the issues and restore peace in the border to bring back normalcy in bilateral relations between two nations.
China's state-run news agency Xinhua reported Wang Yi as stressing for both sides to ‘enhance mutual trust, fous on consensus and cooperation’ and to bring back bilateral relations.
Wang Yi also reportedly said that China would not seek hegemony but work with countries including India for multilateralism and democratization of international relations.
Earlier External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar discussed matters related to border issues with Wang when they met in the Indonesian capital Jakarta days ago.
Jaishankar previously termed the military standoff with China as ‘the most complex challenge’ in his diplomatic career.
