The arrestees are identified as Imran alias Nazir, Akhilesh Paliwal, Javed, Mohsin, Pravez and Tahir. All are natives of Bulandshahr under the Sector 10 police station. But interrogation of the gang found that the main person in the racket is still at large.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ranvijay Singh said that the accused informed them that someone from Dubai sent stem a link on their phones. After receiving and clicking on it, they put their mobile phones on mute and speaker mode. Those who sent the link get ball by ball info on the match through the link, Singh said in a media briefing. They used to bet for Rs 10 lakh per day, the police said.

According to officer Singh, the racket operated during the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections this year too. "They had placed bets on the fate of the Chief Minister's chair and several other political parties," Singh said.

The police have registered a case, charging sections 3 and 4 of the Gambling Act at the Phase 1 Police station in Gautam Budh Nagar. It had seized Rs 4 lakh from the arrestee's accounts.
