Three Sri Lankan nationals were arrested with fake passports after being reported to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

They were both in possession of fake Indian passports, and the third was in possession of a fake Spanish passport.

A case was registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Passport Act, Foreigners Amendment Act in January 2022 after the Tamil Nadu police arrests in October 2021, however the premier investigating agency takes over the investigation.

An individual, Letchumanan Mary Franciska, was arrested by the Tamil Nadu police elite 'Q' branch in Chennai in October 2021, and another Sri Lankan was arrested at the Madurai airport while he boarded a Sri Lankan Airlines flight.

An additional Sri Lankan national was arrested in the last week of October 2021 by the Tamil Nadu 'Q' branch, who had been caught using a fake Spanish passport to board a flight from Tiruchi airport. The NIA was alerted and has now registered a complaint.

The case, which will have international implications, will be investigated by a special team of NIA officers.

Earlier, the R&AW and Central Intelligence Agencies had given information that some political parties and the now-defunct LTTE were trying to fan the flames of Tamil nationalism.

Tamil Eelam is a dream in the minds of many LTTE cadres and leaders all over the world.

Rudrakumaran, who is a lawyer, is the Prime Minister in exile of Tamil Eelam who operates from the United States, and Sri Lankans with fake passports are being arrested by the National Investigation Agency with alacrity.
