NIA files charge sheet against 3 on alleged LTTE activities
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The central probing agency, National Investigation Agency (NIA), filed a charge sheet against three alleged LTTE supporters for allegedly planning terror activities in Tamil Nadu to revive the forbidden group, The Indian Express reported.
An NIA spokesperson said that the charge sheet was filed against Naveen alias Chakaravarthy M, Sanjay Prakash J, and A Kabilar alias Kabilan who were arrested from Tamil Nadu.
According to the probe agency, the development was on a case of seizing two country-made pistols, ammunition and gunpowder from a vehicle check next to Puliyampatti division in the Omalur police station range of Salem district in the state on May 19.
NIA spokesperson claimed that the accused were inspired by the LTTE. They wanted to create a similar outfit with intentions of armed struggle against the government. Investigations inferred that the three arrestees conspired and associated themselves with the banned group. They created a 'World Tamil Justice Court' and made plans to attack people working in quarries, crushers and TASMACliquor shops employing illegal firearms, lethal weapons etc., and caused destruction to property.
NIA also said that they planned an operation on May 18, the day which marks Mullivaikkal Remembrance Day. The day is observed by Sri Lankan Tamil people and supporters of LTTE to pay homage to those who died in the Sri Lankan civil war.
