Neha Dhupia opens up about feeling guilt as a mother
text_fieldsBollywood actress Neha Dhupia is known for breaking stereotypes and being at the height of her career during her pregnancy and early motherhood days. However, the actress says it is challenging for mothers to bounce back.
She said the first pregnancy is more concerning because everything in your life is changing. "Your time is not yours, but you are bringing in a beautiful life who is going to be your responsibility," reported The Indian Express.
The actress stated she was concerned about how life will change including her work but she enjoyed it.
The actress noted that mom guilt is one of the most challenging things to deal with despite never having the fear of being judged. She said mom's guilt is something she sometimes externalises and internalises. "It is absolutely normal but hard".
"If they miss me, I miss them ten folds more. There are days I cannot get home on time to put my children to bed. I miss when I see pictures of small things like drop off to school or pick up duty," said Neha Dhupia.
Speaking to The Indian Express, she pointed out people tend to focus too much on the baby and too little on the mother. "Everyone hugs the baby. Who is there to hug the mother?"
She added that new mothers should do whatever it takes to make them happy. "If you have the balance and mental stability to get back to work, you should bounce back". Neha also noted that if a working woman decides to take a long break after giving birth, they should do that.
"The amount you love your children is never going to change. Every mother knows what is best for their children. A little bit of self-love never hurt anyone," said the actress.
