New Delhi, October 19: All India Students’ Association (AISA) president Neha Bora has approached the Delhi High Court challenging a police notice requiring her to furnish a ₹10,000 bond with a surety to ensure peace during an ongoing inquiry. Her legal team is considering seeking urgent relief to prevent enforcement of the notice.

According to Bar & Bench, Bora’s lawyers confirmed on Monday that the petition had been filed and indicated that they could request an expedited hearing. With the High Court closed for the Dussehra vacation until October 26, any immediate intervention would have to come from a vacation bench.

The notice, issued on Sunday, directed Bora to appear before the Special Executive Magistrate in New Delhi district the following day. The Wire reported that the order was issued under Sections 126 and 130, read with Section 135(3), of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

AISA said the petition challenges the notice as vague, factually erroneous and unconstitutional, alleging violations of Articles 19 and 21. Bora has sought a stay and the withdrawal of the notice. Her lawyers had planned to inform the magistrate that she would not execute the bond.

The action follows Bora’s detention near Mandi House on Friday, October 16, while she was travelling to the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) Lehra Do Tiranga march at Connaught Place. She was released the next morning after refusing to sign a bond, according to AISA.

The student organisation has also alleged that plainclothes police personnel continued following Bora after her release, raising concerns about possible intimidation.

AISA is among the groups organising protests in Delhi demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
