NEET exam centre in Maharashtra asks female candidates to wear clothes inside out

Mumbai: Some female students in Maharashtra who were taking the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) on Sunday for undergraduate admissions to medical colleges claimed they were forced to change their clothes in public at the exam sites.

Some students were instructed to undress and wear their garments inside out at the Smt. Kasturbai Walchand College exam centre in the Sangli region. Some female students claim there was no designated changing area and that they were made to feel awkward in public.

According to reports, some girls had writing on their kurtas, NDTV reported.

After receiving concerns, the National Testing Agency (NTA), which oversees the NEET exam, is looking into the situation. So far, no formal statement has been made.

According to some reports, college administrators allegedly informed the applicants that they had to modify their clothes at the last minute because they were not following the National Testing Agency-mandated dress code.

According to media sources, another incident where several females were requested to change clothes has been reported in West Bengal. Some girls apparently had to exchange clothes with their mothers because there wasn't a clothing store nearby. According to reports, some said that they were asked to strip and that their underwear was examined.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG) 2023 exam was administered by the National Testing Agency on May 7. India's sole medical entrance exam was anticipated to draw more than 20 lakh participants.

Admission to 10 courses, including MBBS, is provided by the NEET UG exam, which is administered in 13 different languages. In 499 locations across the nation, the exam was administered using the pen-and-paper method.
