Following the disruption attempts by some Hindu groups, more than 200-300 Muslims offered Friday prayers at a ground here in Sector-37 despite row over offering Namaz on open grounds. Around ten members of Hindu organizations staged a protest against Friday prayers in Sector-37, an industrial area. Police detained Dinesh Thakur, the chief of a right-wing organization, for disrupting Friday prayers.

Several police personnel was deployed at the scene to prevent any untoward incidents due to the tense situation made by the Bharat Mata Vahini group. To prevent Hindu right-wing members from creating a disturbance during Friday Namaz, they cordoned off the area.

The right-wing group had gathered near the ground, raising slogans including "Jai Shri Ram", "Bharat Mata Ki Jai", and "Vande Mataram.".

According to the police, no untoward incident happened during the prayers, and everyone left the ground peacefully after praying. The city's Assistant Commissioner of Police, Rajender Singh, who was on the scene, said that a few of the group members had been detained.

The deputy commissioner Gurugram had also received a memorandum on Thursday from Dinesh Thakur in which he requested that general prayers be stopped since they were against the law. Sector-37 ground witnessed tensions last Friday when some Hindu groups opposed Muslim prayers.
