text_fieldsNagpur: A fortnight after the 82-year-old Purushottam Puttewar died in accident in Nagapur, police arrested his daughter-in-law Archana Manish Puttewar for her alleged involvement in murder conspiracy for family property worth ₹ 300 crore.
Archana Manish Puttewar, assistant director in the town planning department, hired people to knock down Purushottam Puttewar spending about ₹ 1 crore, NDTV reported citing PTI.
"She gave funds to the accused to purchase a used car to knock down her father-in-law. This was done to make the murder look like an accident. It is apparently to gain control of his property of ₹ 300 crore," a police officer reportedly said.
It is reported that the 53-year-old woman allegedly plotted murder with her husband's driver Bagde and two other accused, Neeraj Nimje and Sachin Dharmik and the police have charged them with murder and other sections under the IPC and Motor Vehicles Act.
On the day of incident, Purushottam Puttewar was run over by a car as he was returning from a hospital having visited his wife Shakuntal who was recovering after a surgery.
Meanwhile, the investigation into the murder revealed there were multiple complaints against her over her work at the town planning department with authorities finding gross irregularities.
