"Musalmaan hai, maaro": Kashmiri teen attacked with iron rod in Uttarakhand
text_fieldsA shopkeeper in Uttarakhand's Vikas Nagar area viciously attacked a 17-year-old Kashmiri boy with an iron rod, leaving him with severe head injuries that required 15 stitches and a fractured hand. The assault has sparked outrage after a video surfaced showing the teen bleeding profusely.
The incident occurred when the teenager and his friend visited a local grocery to buy chips. As they spoke in Kashmiri about their purchase, a man from a neighboring shop intervened, questioning their religion and claiming they were using abusive language.
Despite their denials, the man emerged from his shop and struck the boy repeatedly on the head. His friend was also beaten and is receiving medical treatment.
In a disturbing social media video, the injured boy described the targeted violence. They shouted, ‘He is a Muslim, beat him up' before attacking me.
No arrests or police action have been reported so far, raising concerns about delayed response to the hate crime.
This incident follows a similar assault last month, when 28-year-old Kashmiri trader Bilal Ahmed Ganie was beaten by Bajrang Dal members in Uttarakhand. His attackers forced him to chant "Bharat Mata Ki Jai," taunting: "You live off India and earn here—praise Mother India!"
