Murder-accused actor Darshan demands homely food in jail
text_fieldsBengaluru: The accused in a murder case and jailed in Parappana Agrahara jail, Kannada superstar Darshan Thoogudeepa demanded Karnataka High Court home-made food, books and a bed from his house, India Today reported.
Darshan, who was arrested along with his girlfriend, Pavithra Gowda, filed a petition in the court mentioning the needs.
Advocate Praveen Thimmaiah submitted the petition for him, which demanded permission to buy food, books, and a bed from his house. The counsel prayed to the court to take up the matter on an urgent basis.
Meanwhile, it is learned that Criminal Lawyer CV Nagesh might appear for Darshan during the hearing.
Darshan was arrested on June 11, accused of murdering a fan of him, Renukaswamy. As per the case, the actor committed the murder, alleging that Renukaswamy sent his girlfriend and co-star Pavithra obscene messages through social media.
Further, Darshan allegedly offered Rs 5 lakh each to two of the four accused to take the fall for the murder. Police arrested 17 people so far in the case, including actor Darshan and Pavithra Gowda.
Reukaswamy was a 33-year-old auto-rickshaw driver, and he was found dead near a flyover in Bengaluru on June 9. Police say that a fan of actor Darshan, Renukaswamy, was kidnapped by the actor and murdered by a gang at the actor's behest. They say Renukaswamy allegedly sent offensive messages on social media to actor Pavithra Gowda.
Swamy was taken to a shed in Bengaluru's Kamakshipalya, where Darshan thrashed him with a belt while they coaccused him with sticks until he lost consciousness. The assault caused multiple fractures and severe injuries to Swamy's body. His body was later found by a food delivery rider, NDTV reported.
