Mumbai billionaire travels on local train to beat city’s traffic
text_fieldsMumbai: Footage emerged on Friday showed billionaire Niranjan Hiranandani travelling on Mumbai local train, highlighting the city’s heavy traffic.
The co-founder and managing director of Hiranandani Group was seen waiting at the platform before boarding the AC coach with other passengers.
A few of his team was also seen accompanying the 73-year-old to Ulhasnagar, a city in Maharashtra's Thane district, NDTV reported.
The billionaire wrote in the caption of the Instagram video that the journey was an ‘ insightful experience’.
He added that it helped "Saving Time and beating Traffic with the City's Lifeline a journey from Mumbai to Ulhasnagar in an AC coach was an insightful personal experience,"
Hiranandani's video has received more than 22 million views with several people praising the billionaire for using the public transport.
One user commented that there is ‘No match to Hiranandani.. down to earth,,, everyone want to be associated.’
Another pointed out that ‘Our country needs more people like you @n_hiranandani sir. I wish I could get to meet you as a person someday sir.’
A third person believed that if the top business leaders followed his suit, it could do a lot for infrastructure development and beating pollution, adding that ‘the youth looks up to them as role model.. well done sir.. trust more leaders follow the league.. not for experience but as a practice and contribution to the society.’
However, some Instagram users pointed out Hiranandani that he had boarded the coach that was reserved for people with physical disabilities and cancer patients.
